Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
As many of you know, Trustee Raskob had a letter in last week's Gazette advocating for the Croton Point Avenue Project/Bike Lane; unfortunately, it was rife with error and contradictions.
Resident Joel Gingold has responded to that letter in the 10/24 edition of The Gazette. However, you can also read it here:
To the Editor,
I was intrigued to see Trustee Casey W. Roskob III, Esq.’s letter trying, once again, to justify the ill-advised Croton Point Avenue (CPA) project. As with all previous attempts at such justification, he has failed. And his “facts” contradict previous statements made by the Mayor and information posted on the Village web site.
The July 2013 CPA Design Report estimates the cost of the project at $2.853 million. And if anyone believes that there won’t be additional costs as the project progresses, I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you. The federal grant for the project is $1.2 million and the Board also proposes to use the $500,000 provided by the county for the maintenance of CPA, a total of $1.7 million. That’s less than 60% of the current cost, not the two-thirds claimed by Mr. Roskob.
