At the village work session last night, the board indicated that they will vote on the resolution to accept the Gouveia property at the 11/25 board of trustees meeting--yes, right before Thanksgiving--although Mayor Wiegman had indicated at the meeting of 11/4 that it would be "many many weeks" before this happened. Obviously Mr. Wiegman "mis-spoke".
Trustee Davis was against this as he felt that the public should have more input.
The board noted that the same people show up to oppose the "gift" and that one person spoke in favor of it.
With respect to parking, the mayor indicated that if parking becomes an issue, people can always park at Arrowcrest.
The board will be presented with the petition the night of the 25th. However, residents simply must attend this meeting to voice their objections. That is the bottom line.

To those who have asked, no, the school district, which will lose the largest share of Gouveia's annual taxes that the rest of us will have to make up, hasn't weighed in at all.
