You are encouraged to watch the meeting when it is available on the village website; see citizen participation. Or you can watch it on Wednesday, Channel 78 at 8 p.m. Pay particular attention to the mayor's dissembling on the alleged religious institution that "wants" the property upon very effective questioning by a resident. You'll especially want to have the Gazette article handy when you watch this particular section; see http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2013/10/highlights-101013-gazette-article-on.html
You may also want to pay attention to the many flaws pointed out in what appears to be the village's rather self serving "cost benefit analysis" which does not take into account the loss of the $40K in village, school, county and town taxes. Please note the mayor's rambling response when questioned why by a resident.
As to whether or not there will be a "public hearing", residents were informed that the village is under no obligation to have an "official" PUBLIC HEARING. But there will be a little "p" little "h" hearing of the public. (No comment.) There is of course more and hopefully The Gazette will provide a detailed write-up. In the meantime, bookmark this post and check back for the link to the meeting on the village website--when it becomes available. Please prepare to attend the meeting when this comes to a vote...after tonight's meeting, it is generally thought that this may occur sometime in the next 4-6 weeks. We'll keep you posted if that changes. The board was also asked how many petition signatures it would take to stop them since the petition count is well in excess of the 279 cell tower signatures that stopped the Croton Gorge cell tower. They did not answer. (We currently have approximately 389 hard copy and online signatures.) And again, the link to the petition is here http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/oppose-the-gouveia-property
